Good Morning Friends!! Sunday was the Lompoc Hospital Foundation Holiday Home tour and even though it rained we still had a wonderful turn out. The house was beautiful and filled with so many people who enjoyed seeing the decorations, the members Christmas tree paintings, and ornaments they made for our tree.

Frosty is ready for our visitors.

An old fashioned Christmas is displayed using vintage glass ornaments.

The activity room is decorated with the Holiday decorations our members made.

Valley Haven is featured in the Lompoc Hospital Foundation 2015 Holiday Home Tour

Valley Haven is honored to be on the Lompoc Hospital Foundation's Holiday Home tour this year. The following describes the tour and how you can purchase tickets.  Please help us support the Hospital by purchasing a ticket. We can't wait to show you Valley Haven at the Holidays.  Our members have been busy making ornaments and doing watercolors to display at the home tour and Linda Zivich, our board member and local artist, has led the decorating team in  preparing Valley Haven for the tour.

Three unique homes and one senior day center, each beautifully decorated for the winter holidays, are set for touring Sunday, Dec. 13, for the Lompoc Hospital Foundation’s annual Holiday Home Tour and Candlelight Tea.

The self-guided tour takes place from 1 to 5 p.m., and encompasses homes in Lompoc and Vandenberg Village. A traditional holiday tea, featuring a scrumptious array of Lompoc Valley Medical Center Chef Michael Despres’ finest foods, includes his traditional gingerbread house. The tea will be held at the Ocean’s Seven Café, 1515 E. Ocean Ave.

Tickets are $25 per person and are available at: The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau; Union Bank of California; CVS Pharmacy in Lompoc; Lompoc Valley Medical Center Administration and Coast Hills Federal Credit Union.

Proceeds from the Holiday Home Tour and Candlelight Tea will be used toward the renovation of patient rooms at the Comprehensive Care Center.

The following describes the homes on this years tour.

The featured Vandenberg Village home this year entices visitors with a French country décor and European flair. A distinct element of the home is a chance to see a magnificent doll room, where more than 90 dolls handmade by the homeowner are displayed on one wall. The owner hand-crafts the doll bodies, clothing and molds each individual face.Elsewhere in the home, dolls are arrayed amid decorations and are dressed in Christmas frocks. The home’s kitchen includes a collection of Santa Claus figures and the Three Kings, as well as a display of angels and nutcrackers. In the living room, caroling dolls are set around a Martha Stewart tree, with dresses designed and sewn by the homeowner’s sister. In addition to doll-making, the homeowner creates gorgeous linens, which will be featured in each bathroom. The blue-themed master bedroom is the site of a tree decorated with holiday elves. Throughout the layout, the homeowner’s talents are on display.

The other two homes on the hour are situated next to one another in a neighborhood on the southeast part of town.

The first is a 1960s ranch-style home designed by architect Pierre Claeyssens, with undeniably one of the most magnificent views of the Lompoc Valley from its backyard.
Inside, the living room features a Texas creamstone fireplace set off with wide ceiling beams. Decorating features include references to the Bogota, Columbia homeland of the homeowner’s wife. Unusual features include a hidden bar surrounded by dark leather furniture and a kitchen with cherry wood cabinets overlooking a sheltered patio. Outdoors, a painted brick fence depicts a strumming guitarist.
The master bedroom is a reflection of the homeowners’ fascination with Disney, as well as photographs of Bogota in the suite and throughout the living spaces.

A neighboring home on the tour is an antique collector’s dream. Glass cabinets in the kitchen are filled with a collection of Stratford dogs while nearby, an antique light fixture features an image of soldiers returning from war. In the living room, visitors can view a collection of international dolls, many more than 50 to 80 years old.A stunning 1893 Steinway piano is a centerpiece of the room, and a pianist will play Bach renditions during the home tour. A collection of Russian carved wooden Santa dolls will grace the top of the piano, while a nearby cabinet houses an inherited inkwell collection.
Another Steinway piano, this one from 1916, is situated in the sun room, where visitors can see views of the valley and a manicured garden. A doll room is a collector’s paradise, with hundreds of antique dolls, many with their own writing desks.

The fourth locale for the tour is Valley Haven Day Care Center. The California bungalow-style home was built in 1920 and once served as a birthing center. Situated on one-third of an acre, the exterior grounds have been extensively renovated with pergolas, patios and walkways. Valley Haven, the only day care center for seniors, will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. Decorator Linda Zivich is organizing the effort to turn Valley Haven into a Christmas wonderland for the tour.

Valley Haven to Present Our Program at the Lompoc Rotary Club

Valley Haven has been invited to make a presentation at the Lompoc Rotary Club at their meeting on May 14th.  This is a great opportunity for Valley Haven to share with the community our program and what an asset it is to Lompoc Businesses. As most members of the Rotary Club are business persons they realize the importance of having a place for their loved one to go during the day while they are at work. While also knowing they are safe, having fun and are interacting with others.
